When You Don’t Know What to Say…….

“How might your life have been different, if there had been a place for you, a place of women? A place where other women, somewhat older, had reached out to help you as you rooted yourself in the earth of this ancient feminine….A place where there was deep understanding of the ways of woman to nurture you in every season of your life. A place of women to help you measure your own stature….to help you prepare and know when you were ready.

A place where, after the fires were lighted, and the drumming and the silence, you would claim, finally, in your Naming, as you spoke slowly into that silence, that the time had come, full circle, for you, also, to reach out….reach out as younger women entered into that place….reach out to help them prepare as they struck root in that same timeless earth.

How would your life be different?”

An earthquake hit women’s rights this week.

I couldn’t just do some trivial newsletter about business, style, wealth or healing.

But I did want to share a story from my own life..

In 1969 before Roe was law my roommate had a coat hanger abortion. That’s what women did and that is how they died. We were both 23 years old. She came home and could not stop bleeding. By some miracle, she lived. Once you’ve been that close to someone dying from un-necessary damage and danger it scares you and it changes you.

When I heard the news the other day

  • I felt scared.
  • I felt anxiety.
  • I felt mad. I felt sad.
  • I felt overwhelmed.
  • I shut down.

A seismic shift that makes women collateral damage in a political play for power.

Sick.
